Oh My Gouache: Autumn Studies

Explore fall through gouache and colored pencil in this playful, process-focused workshop. Although this workshop is focused on process, we will also be exploring the foundations of gouache so that you leave with confidence and excitement to keep painting with water based gouache which is an easy, dynamic material for the studio or field.

We’ll work from our own reference photos and experiment with scale; from big, loose landscapes to up-close studies of leaves, berries, botanicals, and other little details of the season.

We’ll start by building color and shape with gouache, then layer colored pencil on top to add texture, detail, and personality. The focus is on experimenting, making studies, and finding new ways to translate what you see onto paper.

All experience levels welcome. All materials included.

Bring a few fall reference photos that inspire you; landscapes, plants, berries, leaves, or anything else that catches your eye.
